Visit with grandaddy

Last weekend I took the kids to visit grandaddy in Chesapeake while daddy was at work on Sunday. We went to the park and then to the new Cracker Barrell in Western Branch, which apparently is the "it" spot now. And of course, you know me, I took my camera with me. :)

Valentine's Day!

Valentine's Day was pretty fun around the Newman house. I put some small gifts for the kids in a Valentine's gift bag and Lena really enjoyed opening it and Carter LOVED his new stamps! They each got their own V-day stuffed bear, a little bit of candy, bubbles, and animal crackers. Carter also got some new stamps which kept him occupied for an hour - score for mama! :)

Lena always drinks a sippy of milk around 2:00, before her afternoon nap, so I give Lena her sippy and immediately Carter looks up at me and says, "I wanna milk, too." So, I hand him his sippy of milk and he sits RIGHT next to Lena and they looked so cute sitting beside each other drinking their milk I just had to take a picture. :)

Lena's Party

I've been meaning to update and post pictures of Lena's birthday celebration, but I just kept putting it off and now here it is nearly the middle of February and I'm just now doing it! Oh well, I suppose it's better late than never. We celebrated Lena's 1st birthday with family and friends on January 16th and it was truly a wonderful time! Here are a bunch of pics from the occasion:

First Birthday

I cannot believe that my baby is ONE! In fact, in a little less than an hour Lena Jean was born one year ago today. She has made me one of the happiest mama's on the face of the earth. I don't know what I did before I was able to see her smiling face every morning. I love you, Lena Bean!

Finally!

She's finally starting to try to pull up! It's about time! Here are a couple shots that I got a few mornings ago. She was further up, but I didn't get the camera in time, but you get the idea anyway. :)

The best of 2009

- Lena's birth on January 15th.

- Having Courtney's grandma come to Virginia to help with the kids while I was recovering from my c-section and pelvic abscess (even though the circumstances sucked, it was nice that Grandma was able to spend time with Lena when she was just a couple of months old).

- Lena's first Easter


- Our trip to Danville to see Tita, Pop, Uncle Billy & Aunt Becky.

- Carter's 2nd birthday on July 23rd & his Mickey Mouse party at Sandy Bottom Park.

- Meeting and getting to know Taryn and Aiden at library story time.

- Joining the Hampton Healthy Families play group.

- Our 4th anniversary on October 15th.

- Halloween (Lena's first Halloween- dressed as a bumble bee, and Carter's third Halloween- dressed as a monkey). We went trick or treating with Matt, Taryn, and Aiden, and then hung out with Ronnie, Heather, and Haley.

- Our Thanksgiving trip to Louisiana where Carter and Lena got to meet two of their cousins for the first time and see their Louisiana family again.

- Lena's baptism on November 22nd at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Lecompte, LA.

- Courtney's 30th surprise birthday party at County Grill and Smokehouse.

- Lena's first Christmas and all of the awesome Christmas festivities leading up to Christmas Day.

- Our first snow

- Spending New Years Eve with our best friends, Ronnie, Heather, and Haley.
